naked bandit

Naked bandit/ here, not here/ white sovereign - knowobotic research's contentions with extra-territorialities [1] are currently shown in the context of `Mapping new territories', an exhibition taking place in St.Gallen.

The installation - please forgive me if i got this completely wrong ;) - unfolds a space that is supposed to simulate such an extra-territorial scenario where it's players are floating in the ambiguity of being `here ' (within the environment of a sovereignity) but at the same time 'not here' (outside of the ruling laws and conventions but nevertheless controlled by that referring sovereignity). The sovereign, played by a flying blimp (de-territorialized from the Autonomous Systems Lab, EPFL in Lausanne) is roaming through the installation, detecting its way along the 'bandits' - simple, not technically enhanced black baloons. The zeppelin-like flying bot is equipped with sensors for distance and sort of a cam on its nose. Four propellers are the actuating and stearing force. Im sure there is an intelligence in how this thingy navigates through the installation, but i couldn't make out a pattern - it seems like to focus on a target (a bandit baloon) and then bumping in it, trying to find it's way around to a next target. But then it turns and accelerates again towards that baloon etc. Of course it reacts to the visitors, becoming additional bandits within the installation.

The installation actually provokes a sympathic, playful curiousity towards that `sovereign' - probably the opposite of what happens in the scenarios the concept refers to (guantanamo bay, ...)

[1] extra-territorialities:
Extra-territoriality describes a logic of space which is defined outside of the state and its law systems, but is yet controlled by the referring state power and sovereignity. (knowbotic research)

my subveRSSed

SubveRSSed is a python script that generates an rss feed from changes in a subversion repository. Seems to be very useful to subscribe to the rss feed from a subversion repository instead of having commit mails. The subverss script was initially written by Philppe Normand. It basically parses the output from svnlook and creates a sequential (last 20 commits) and a full RSS 2.0 feed of a given repository. Moreover it generates a neat html page.

I added a new option for appending the diffs to the RSS feed (-d) and another to specify a range of revisions to check. The second maybe useful to create only an excerpt of all commits. The modified subverss script can be checked out from http://svn.var.cc/svn/misc/mySubveRSSed (user:anonymous, no password). There's also a diff in order to patch the original script (applies to revision 45 of the original).

update:
Philppe added the above improvements to the main subveRSSed tree. Get it from here - this will a be the more actual version anyways ;). Thanks Philippe!

LOTS 2005

Soon the swiss open source `bazaar` is opening its gates. For the first time, LOTS is providing an open conference blog for visitors to post their impressions, coments etc. The blog is a BxCMS Blog instance that is publicly accessible from two Boxes at the LOTS venue (at the entrance and the dome) and generally at http://lots.bitflux.ch.

Some interesting sessions (professional day, 18.02.):

Moreover, etoy is recruiting agents for the etoy.ETERNITY project and the etoy.PAINSTATION will be setup for battles!

mobile test 02

Pictures from the P*00 are still of no use ... :)

The bxm2m module now supports a modular set of directives to specify i.e. title or category  when posting via mobile/email.

schizophrenia

I must have missed that maintaining a thing called weblog ineviteably seem to affect the constitution of the self nowadays. The practice of  `blogging'  that leads to the  identification  of the subject as a `Blogger'  seems to connotate with a whole lifestyle packet .

Moblog test

Moblogging to the BxCMS Blog is now possible. Like a standalone blog client (i.e. ecto, blogtk), the mail2blog process accesses the blog via its MetaWeblog API to post incoming mails. Cool thing :)
